2020 Auction Cancelled

posted May 16, 2020, 7:31 AM by World Hunger

It is with regret that the steering committee announces that the 2020 World Hunger Auction has been cancelled.
Even though we will not have the opportunity to join together in a great day of fellowship, food, and winning the bid, there are ways to support the Auction.  Feel free to offer your arts and crafts, meals, trips or activities for sale and donate the money you raise to the Auction.  For example, one couple has committed to walking 50 miles/month from May through August, totaling 200 miles each.  They hope that others will pledge to support their walk or create their own plan for raising funds.  Finally, the committee encourages groups and individuals to make donations so that the tradition of helping the hungry may continue even though we can’t gather.  Please leverage our donation form found here to mail in your 2020 WHA gift. We look forward to reviving the effort on August 14, 2021 and hope to see you there.

As we near the Christmas season and are faced with buying gifts for family and friends, we often struggle to find something that they will enjoy and use.  As an alternative this year, the World Hunger Auction committee invites you to make a donation to the Auction in honor of those to whom you would typically give a gift. Those who give will receive a letter acknowledging the gift and a card that can be sent to the person, family or group that is honored.

Another Successful Hunger Auction in the Books

Large crowds and beautiful weather attended our namesake event on Saturday, August 10th for a lively day of food, fellowship and non-stop auction action. Thanks to the hundreds of bidders, volunteers and folks that graciously donated auction items, we successfully raised over $35,000 during this year's single-day auction event.   These monies will be combined with the donated funds from our additional 2019 auction season events and distributed during the next WHA board meeting in October (distribution totals and details will be provided at that time).  Thanks to everyone that assisted, participated and contributed to all of the events associated with our successful 2019 WHA campaign. We are deeply blessed by such a generous community that provides us the opportunity to truly make a difference to those in need; locally and around the world.

Cloudy skies kept temperatures cool for our WHA Bike Ride participants and volunteers.  While the threat of rain impacted our participant count, the 18 riders that did brave the clouds raised over $1,100 for support the WHA ministries.  Thanks to all those who peddled and those that assisted with organization and refreshment stops.
