On November 21st, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) hosted its 16th World Culture Festival, drawing international students from 31 countries and regions. The event served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, offering a wealth of experiences for all attendees. Several consuls from the foreign consulates general in Guangzhou, including Vorakan Chobpattana (Consul of Thailand), Pham Mong Xiong (Consul of Vietnam), and Cristine Agustina Siregar (Consul of Indonesia), were also present, joining the celebration of diverse cultures.

The food court was one of the festival's highlights, where international students set up booths showcasing their culinary traditions. The air was filled with the irresistible aromas of Turkish lahmacun, French canelés paired with wine, Venezuelan arepas, and Malaysian nasi lemak. These delectable dishes delighted both students and faculty who gathered to savor the international flavors. The Tajikistan booth, offering traditional oshi palav and the signature dish qurutob, attracted a lot of attention.The American booth, featuring hamburgers and chocolate chip cookies, was also a big hit. Wu, a student from the Business English Department, shared her excitement: "The American students were incredibly friendly, and the food was fantastic!"

But the festival wasn't just about food. It also featured an impressive array of cultural displays. The Peru booth captivated visitors with colorful posters that highlighted the country's geography and history. Students from Vietnam and Russia donned traditional costumes and danced alongside Chinese students, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. Their energetic performances and laughter drew smiles from everyone present. A standout attraction was the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Booth" set up by Chinese students, where intricate lacquer fan art was on display, adding a rich layer of traditional Chinese culture to the festivities.

In the evening art show, international students performed dances and music that further showcased the exchange of diversified cultures. Vietnamese students presented "Traveling Through Vietnam", a dynamic performance featuring bamboo pole dance and folk water town steps, which vividly captured the essence of their homeland. Thai students performed "Faith and Fear", using expressive body language to convey the cultural significance of belief. Russian students performed the "Slavic Fusion Dance", expressing a deep emotional connection to their homeland through movement.

In addition, students from China, Canada, Peru, and other countries collaborated on a rendition of the classic song "Meteor Shower". The heartfelt performance resonated deeply with the audience. Liu, a student from the School of Chinese Language, remarked, "This song brought back so many fond memories and showed me how much international students love Chinese culture."
As one of GDUFS's signature events, the World Culture Festival provided a unique platform for international students to showcase their national cultures while strengthening the cultural ties between China and the rest of the world.

廣東外語外貿大學舉辦第十六屆世界文化節
11月21日,廣東外語外貿大學舉辦第十六屆世界文化節,吸引了來自31個國家和地區的留學生參與,獻上了一場精彩紛呈的文化交流盛宴。泰國駐穗總領館領事Vorakan Chobpattana、越南駐穗總領館領事范孟雄、印尼駐穗總領館領事柯思婷等多位駐穗領事參加了本次活動,共同感受多元文化的魅力。
在美食長廊,各國留學生精心布置攤位,制作特色美食,呈現“舌尖上的文化盛宴”。土耳其的碎肉薄餅、法國的可露麗與紅酒、委內瑞拉的煎玉米餅、馬來西亞的椰漿飯等美食香氣四溢,讓前來品嘗的師生大呼過癮。塔吉克斯坦攤位前,傳統手抓飯和名菜qurutob吸引了不少學生駐足。美國攤位的漢堡與巧克力豆餅也備受歡迎,商務英語系的吳同學興奮地說:“美國同學們特別熱情,美食也超棒!”
現場不僅有美味佳肴,更有精彩的文化展示。秘魯攤位用生動的海報講述本國地理與歷史,越南和俄羅斯留學生穿上民族服飾,與中國學生共舞,歡聲笑語感染了在場每一個人。作為亮點,中國學生設置的“非遺攤位”展示了精致的漆扇藝術,為活動增添了濃厚的傳統文化韻味。
藝術晚會上,留學生們用舞蹈與音樂展示多元文化的交融。越南學生演繹的《走遍越南》通過竹竿舞和水鄉舞步展現家鄉風情;泰國表演《信仰與恐懼》用肢體語言詮釋信仰文化;俄羅斯學生的《斯拉夫融合舞蹈》則訴說對故鄉的深情。
此外,中國、加拿大、秘魯等多個國家學生合作演繹經典歌曲《一起來看流星雨》,讓臺下觀眾沉浸其中。 中文學院的劉同學表示:“這首歌勾起了我許多美好的回憶,也讓我看到國際學生對中華文化的熱愛?!?/p>
作為廣東外語外貿大學的標志性活動,世界文化節為該校的眾多國際學生展示本國文化提供了舞臺,也為中外人文交流構筑起重要橋梁。
